Jack & Jill School
History
More than 50 years ago, the school's founder, Molly Papirnik, announced to her astonished husband, "the only way to educate young children properly is within a homely atmosphere so I am going to start my own school here and now". Thus, initially with one boy and one girl, Jack and Jill School started in the dining room of her home, offering a traditional education in the "home from home" environment that she felt to be of paramount importance. Word spread quickly, and the school soon grew in popularity, taking over more and more of her home; eventually requiring the additional space now provided by the Early Years premises on Twickenham Green. The Papirnik family continues its commitment to the school with her granddaughter as its present Principal and members of the next generation involved in its day to day operation.
Vision and Principles
The school continues to operate on a traditional basis within the "home from home" environment and has the highest expectations of both its pupils and staff. In close partnership with his or her parents, it is our aim to enable each child to grow into a positive, responsible and confident person, able to work and co-operate with others whilst developing his or her own knowledge and skills.
These principles underpin every aspect of life at the school, from the way we use our buildings to the range of our resources and from the calibre of our staff to their deployment within the school. Comprehensive attention to detail is applied throughout.
Organisation
The school's original site in Hampton remains the base for Year 1 and 2 girls, while the larger premises at Twickenham house the Nursery children and Reception girls during school term time, as well as being the base for the after school and holiday clubs.
