Nursery

9.00am-12.15pm or 9.00am-3.00pm

Children can be enrolled in our co-educational nursery for as many morning sessions as required at any time after their second birthday.  During the term in which they have their third birthday, these morning sessions can be extended within the full nursery day, which with the addition of breakfast and after school clubs operates from 8.00am to 6.00pm daily.  In addition, holiday clubs specifically intended for nursery age children operate during all school holidays with the exception of Christmas enabling parents to book year round quality child care as required.

Once they reach the age of 3, most nursery children attend for 5 morning sessions each week during term time with the addition of afternoon sessions as required. During the morning children benefit from a full range of activities organised by our experienced and well qualified staff within the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum. Great emphasis is placed upon free play within a structured and organised environment with acceleration in the core skills of literacy and numeracy. This concentration on the more formal areas of learning is supplemented by a wide and varied creative programme consisting of regular sessions of music, PE and art taught by specialist staff in our spacious premises. Those children staying for afternoon sessions bring a packed lunch and participate in the specialist activity of the day organised as part of a more relaxing schedule. Specialist activities include Music, French, Art, European Cultural Tour, Ballet and Sports.

The nursery school is arranged in three groups according to age, so that all children mix and remain with others at a very similar stage of development, establishing strong links with both staff and children within the group. The staff maintain close relationships with parents and carers and communication is established and maintained in ways best suited to each family, whether by regular discussion, joint contribution to a daily written diary or pre-booked appointment. In all instances, parents' unique knowledge of their child is used as the natural and obvious starting point as the child embarks on his/her learning adventure.
