Holiday Clubs
Holiday clubs operate at the Twickenham site and cater for children between the ages of 2-11 years. They are open to all children and provide the ideal opportunity for those from the local area to meet one another and play in a relaxing atmosphere.
The main programme runs from 10.00am-3.00pm daily and within this period children experience a combination of adult led activities and free play opportunities organised within a weekly theme. Additional care is provided from 8.00am to 6.00pm, with breakfast and an evening tea provided.
As the needs and interests of children within the age range are likely to be varied, two separate programmes are organised. The one for the younger children is based on the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, whilst that for the older children gives ample opportunity for them to experience more advanced activities. Exciting sporting and creative activities are planned for both groups throughout the day, with direction from the children themselves being actively encouraged.

A Typical Day at Holiday Club
Every day staff plan at least one organised creative activity, and children are encouraged to initiate further activities throughout the session. The school’s art resources are available for use, and in the relaxed atmosphere of the holiday club activities requiring greater time can be undertaken. Everything from drawing or painting to cooking, modelling or messy play activities like bubble painting or large-scale group artwork is available.
With the aim of allowing children the chance to express themselves and use their imaginations within a safe and supportive environment, staff at the holiday club actively encourage freedom of choice throughout the programme. While holiday club activities are structured within a broad theme and include specific planned activities, the general organisation is designed to be flexible, allowing for spontaneous ideas to be developed and expanded upon. No activity in holiday club is compulsory, and children are able to exercise real freedom of choice, taking full responsibility for their play activities. As much time as possible is spent outdoors where children can use all the games equipment within the large and secure playground.

As with the creative activities staff plan a specific physical activity for each session. This could include organised team games in our dedicated sports hall or simply providing the children with the opportunity to run, skip and jump, either on Twickenham Green or in the school playground.
